Audition/Interview Call for Octopus by Steve Yockey

After young couple Kevin and Blake engage in an adventerous and hastily planned night of “fun” with the older, more “experienced” Max and Andy, they are left trying to salvage their relationship from a pummeling mix of jealousy, betrayal, telegrams from a soaking wet delivery boy and a ravenous sea monster from the ocean floor. Rendered through post-modern gay lens, Octopus slips from domestic comedy into a dark fable examining the role and depth of commitment in relationships and what it really means to say the words “I love you.”
Octopus will be directed by klpac's resident director, Kelvin Wong and will play at klpac's Pentas 2 for a total of 5 shows from December 16th – 19th 2010 with a preview for the public on December 15th. ...[More]

Audition/Interview Call for Eugene Ionesco's The Chairs

An elderly couple spend their time throwing a strange party for even stranger people – non-existent ones. As the 'guests' arrive, the couple fulsomely welcome them by name and rank, with a growing number of chairs put out until the space is entirely filled with furniture, only to be overcome by these very objects that give their lives meaning.
A tragic farce on the impossibility of meaningful communication, The Chairs was first performed in Paris in 1952, prompted by Ionesco's reaction towards finding an explanation on a world incomprehensible to him. By the time the play was revived four years later, critics and audiences lauded Ionesco for his unique staging and profound sense of humour.
The Chairs will be directed by klpac's resident director, Kelvin Wong and is part of the Ionesco x2 double-bill with The Lesson, directed by Christopher Ling. Ionesco x2 will play at klpac's Indicine for a total of 5 shows from November 18th - 21st 2010 with a preview for the public on November 17th. ...[More]
